It has been revealed that the two and a half inches can mean the difference between good health, good appearance and a range of unsettling health issues.

A British study, announced earlier in the month, showed men with larger waist lines who have had trouble with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) have also experienced increased sexual dysfunction.
The study is the first in it’s nature, focusing on finding links between obesity and sexual health problems.

Diabetes was one of the most striking consequences of large girth in men, and women for that matter. Waist size reflects belly fat and the fat around the internal organs that are strongly linked with type 2 diabetes. The addition of far more frequent sexual dysfunction adds another aspect of physical and lifestyle impairment caused mainly by obesity.

A waist size of greater than 40 inches in men and 35 in women is considered large. Diabetes experts have long used the Body Mass Index (BMI) ratio to predict risks involved with obesity.

The study showed that men, who had the largest waist sizes, were likely to urinate more frequently than those will smaller waist sizes. Almost 40 percent of men in the largest group urinated more than eight times in 24 hours while 27 percent in the middle group and 16 percent in the smallest waist group.

The results were even more striking when sexual health was in question. Nearly 75 percent of the men in the group with the largest waist said they experienced erectile dysfunction compared to the 50 percent and 32 percent of the medium and smallest groups respectively.
